Dr. Ann Stover graduated from Livingston Academy in 1969. She attended the University of Tennessee graduating 1974 with a BS degree in Secondary Education. She began her teaching career at Livingston Academy in 1975 teaching Physical Science and Biology. During the seven years at LA she obtained her MA and EdS degrees from Tennessee Tech University in Administration and Supervision. In 1982 she moved to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona where she taught Biology, Reading, and History, as well as served in administrative positions over 14 years. During this period she also obtained her Ed.D degree in Education.
In 1997 she worked at the Arizona Education Department as a Professional Development Specialist for state vocational teacher training, and developed a Career Pathways program for Arizona schools. Dr. Stover moved to Tolleson Union High School District in 1999 and continued her teaching and administrative career until 2010 when she began working as Biology adjunct faculty for Paradise Valley Community College. In all, Dr. Stover has been an educator for 46 years.
Dr. Stover has earned numerous awards: 1995-96 Outstanding Service Award from Page School District; 2002 selected to the All-USA Today Teacher Team as well as 2004 Superintendent's Innovative Teaching Award both while at Tolleson School District.
Dr. Stover has written publications related to education:
1985 "Vocational and Pre-Vocational Programs in Rural American Indian Communities", Tennessee Association of Middle Schools Journal.
1996 "Native Americans and Cultural Bias in the Schools", Arizona Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Journal
1998 "Career Pathways: The Arizona Model'', Arizona School Boards Association Journal
Dr. Stover is currently retired and lives in Goodyear, Arizona.
